Easter Dessert Display: Logan’s First Easter

I love creating fun dessert displays for holiday celebrations. In this post, I am looking back at Logan’s first Easter in 2013. It seems like it was just yesterday.  I wanted to make his first Easter special. I went with a playful, colorful, and fun dessert display that also served as the decorations.

It’s tradition in my family to get a Palmer hollow chocolate bunny for Easter. I found my inspiration for the dessert display on the box of the chocolate bunny. The artwork on the box featured a playful bunny playground. I even cut out the artwork and used it to cover up the framed mirror on the wall.

I focused on the decorating element of using levels to create a 3D effect. I repurposed Buy Buy Baby gift boxes that I had saved from my baby shower. I used the boxes to create different levels to display the desserts.

I also used one of the boxes to hide the base of the tree. The tree served as the focal point and as another element of elevation. On the tree branches, I hung decorative Easter eggs and Lindt chocolate carrots.  I always buy Lindt chocolates for Easter. It’s good quality chocolate and they have a nice variety (this is not an ad).

The most important part of a dessert display is the dessert. I chose to make cupcakes. I made three different flavors. Eighteen mini carrot cupcakes and displayed them in an egg carton. A half dozen vanilla cupcakes with buttercream frosting, decorated with sugar sprinkles. Two dozen chocolate cupcakes with chocolate frosting made into the shape of a bunny face.  To finish off the display I made chocolate flower lollipops.

Everyone loved the Easter display and the delicious treats. But what made that day memorable was celebrating with family.
