Superhero Bowling Party: Happy 4th Birthday Logan!

My first born Logan is our official Superman, so much so that his middle name is Kent. So naturally, for his 4th birthday party, a superhero theme was a must. We are so blessed to have him in our lives. He is funny, outgoing, friendly, sentimental, and loves to cuddle. For this particular birthday, since he had a better understanding, I asked him what he wanted to do to celebrate. He told me he wanted a superhero bowling party.

I was on a mission to create a superhero birthday party. The venue was an easy choice, our local Bowlmor Lanes. All I did was book the party. The event staff at Bowlmor Lanes were helpful and gave me some flexibility on the party package. The package included bowling, pizza, and drinks. Since the party would be in a location with limited space and a set time I needed to keep the theme simple and decorations minimal.

The main focus was the cake which would bring the theme together and serve as part of the decoration. I wanted to bring together two ideas, bowling and superhero. I came up with an idea to make a bowling lane cake but have the pins represent superheroes. I created bowling pin superheroes out of rice crispy treats and covered them with fondant.

Maurice created a night cityscape backdrop that we could have on the table. He took a science trifold board and covered it with black paper then cut out a city skyline and added yellow squares to look like windows on the buildings.

A super cute idea was to have every child in attendance get a superhero cape. I got adhesive letters so that each child could personalize their cape with their name.  They looked super cute as they bowled.

I like creating unique favor bags. I just never really like what I find in the stores. I wanted each bag to represent a different superhero. Maurice was able to find images of superheroes and he added a birthday logo. We printed them on sticker paper and put one on each bag. Inside each child got a mini-bowling set and a superhero sticker. I wanted to keep the sugar to a minimum so I did not get candy. Instead, I found individually wrapped superhero themed rice crispy treats.

To keep the kids entertained as they waited for their turn to bowl I had superhero coloring pages on the table. I made rainbow candied popcorn so the kids could snack on. I also personalized the juice boxes to go with the theme. These elements are what I call functional party decorations.

The best thing about all of this was that Logan and his friends really had a great time. And the grown-up as well.

I hope you enjoyed taking a peek into Logan’s superhero bowling party.
