Fuller House Viewing Party

Growing up, watching “Full House”  was my favorite TV show as a young girl. Even though I grew up in New York City in a Hispanic family, living in a small apartment and had nothing in common with the Tanner family, I would have loved to have been a part of their family. “Full House” was a funny show and modeled good family values and a stable loving home.

When my husband Maurice and I found out that “Fuller House”,  based on the “Full House” characters of DJ, Stephanie, and Kimmy now all grown up, was coming out on Netflix we knew we had to celebrate with a viewing party.

I wanted to gather my family and friends, fans of the original, to recreate our fuller house.   Dressing up like our favorite characters was a must. I dressed up like DJ my favorite character, who I have the most in common with. I’m also a big fan of Candace Cameron Bure who plays DJ; I have followed her career through the year’s, we share the same faith, I have read all her books, and I currently enjoy watching her on The View. My husband who had a crush on DJ as a kid dressed up like Steve, DJ’s boyfriend on the show. My son Logan was uncle Jesse because they both have awesome hair. My youngest Blake, the funniest and most active child I know, we dressed like Joey. My friend Sarah dressed like aunt Becky and her two boys she dressed them like Becky’s twins. My sister in law Grace dressed up like Kimmy and my niece like Michelle. We did our best to represent the characters with a little bit of color since we all are of Hispanic decent. Other guests did not dress up but we did not hold it against them.

Decorations and food are alway key to make a theme party come together. To decorate I wanted to keep it simple. Maurice had a poster of the “Fuller House” living room printed, that we used as a backdrop. I wanted to create a delicious menu that would be a tribute to the the original show. I got creative with naming the dishes after the different characters.

  • “Have Mercy!” Greek Salad for uncle Jesse. I have a great recipe for greek salad that you can find below.
  • “Cut. It. Out.” Pizza to represent uncle Joey, that I made with fresh dough from my bread maker.
  • “You Got It Dude!” Burger Sliders after Michelle. I seasons ground beef with McCormick steak seasoning and formed them into patties.
  •  Sweet Potato “Friend Fries” to represent DJ and Kimmy.
  • A “Wake Up San Francisco” smoothie to represent Danny and Becky.
  • “How Rude!” Chocolate Cake to represent Stephanie. It was everyone’s favorite thanks to a recipe I found on Sally Baking Addiction.

With our Fuller House Bingo Game in hand, we all gathered in excitement to watch the first episode. The opening credits were awesome and heart warming. Everyone enjoyed the episode. All the elements that we loved about the original show were there. We took a break to celebrate with How Rude! Chocolate Cake and then proceeded to watch a second episode. After our guests left and our boys went to bed, Maurice and I watched six episodes that night and finished out the season the following day.

Congratulations Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber for an awesome show and making our childhood come full circle. Can’t wait for season 2.

  1. Hi there, I was wondering if you were willing to sell the living room back drop? I also wanted to know where you got the bingo game? My daughter will be turning 9 this summer and I wanted to throw her a little full house party. Can’t find a backdrop anywhere.

    1. So sorry for the late reply. The background we had in storage for a while and got rid of it when we moved. My husband had it printed. Sorry. However there is a link to the bingo game in the post.
