Thanksgiving Past

Thanksgiving has come a long way in my family. I’m the first generation born in the Untied States so Thanksgiving was not traditional in my culture. My family has embraced the holiday through the years. Because it’s a time to be thankful, gather with loved ones, and eat.

Although I’m surrounded by many wonderful cooks, we did have the traditional Thanksgiving dishes. As a young girl I longed for the type of  Thanksgiving meal I watched on television. When I got married I wanted to incorporate the traditional dishes I always wanted to learn to make. That year I researched and watched the food channel to learn all I needed to know to make my first traditional Thanksgiving meal. I kept it simple and got a lot of help from my husband, aka my “sous chef”. Other then our turkey being a little dry everything turned out good. Since then, year after year our Thanksgiving meals have improved.

What are your favorite traditional and nontraditional Thanksgiving dishes? Share them in the comments below.
